My best story this year: Don't You Shake Alone

My favorite story this year: "Being Found"

Most fun story to write: Oh, man, I had a lot of fun this year. "Alibi" and "Tactical Shit" both stick in my mind for the fun of smushing those universes and characters together, and "Breakfast of Discordians" was made of giggles.

Story with the single sexiest moment: ...Huh, most of the porn I wrote this year was kinky in some way, wasn't it. Ummm. I'll go with "Still Afloat". Or possibly "If He Moves When He Shouldn't" or "Responsible Use of Magic". Or "Probably Your Girl". Any of those really.

Story that got the most unexpected reaction from readers: Haha, so I have never really written the juggernaut pairing in a juggernaut fandom like Teen Wolf before, so both "Comforter" (my first Stiles/Derek story) and "Break the Lock If It Don't Fit" (my first NC-17 Stiles/Derek story) were kind of o.O experiences.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: "Break the Lock If It Don't Fit" was in fact down on my to-write list as "domestic violence apologia" before I came up with a title. /o\ Oh and the creepy dubcon Brad/sexbot!Nate thing. I almost forgot that. For some reason.

Hardest story to write: "Waking", actually, was a story that I started writing in 2007 and went through multiple iterations and drafts and head-desking moments and betas from [personal profile] iulia before I was finally satisfied with it and decided to make it a Yuletide gift last year.

"Rocks in the Pathway" also was difficult, as it sat miserably stalled for months (having been planned for years) before [personal profile] commodorified pointed out to me that the trouble with the story was that I was doing it wrong and I figured out how to drag it onto the right track.

This is one of those years, also, where the hardest stories I have been grappling with all year are the ones that still aren't done god dammit. Sigh. Onward.

Biggest surprise: TEEN WOLF. o.O

Most unintentionally telling story: Probably "Being Found".

You did, totally!

PS Speaking of things unfinished, I'm about halfway through the Beauty and the Beast fic—here's hoping I'll get it done on the (15 hour) bus ride to Phoenix tomorrow!

I'm SO glad I'm able to read on buses! Don't know what I'd do otherwise, lord.

(Also, I bought The Lord of The Rings in a used bookstore today; I don't have a copy, and it seemed a good time—after all, what better book to occupy myself with for long periods? *g*)

Damn, you more than doubled my word count for the year. You rock!! *g*

I've been hit by the Teen Wolf popularity hammer too. It is definitely O.o making.

This seems like an opportune post on which to say "thank you."

I was--I have no idea how, and I wish I could remember--linked to "Rocks in the Pathway" from somewhere on LiveJournal. I read, was amused, went away, came back a few days later to chase down the link to the rest of the series, and set about reading my way through All The Vorkosigan Fanfic.

Thirteen years ago I lost the ability to write fiction--somewhere between my worst bout of depression and finally being diagnosed and treated, my brain stopped being able to hold a live story. In early October, I sat down and wrote a 400 word piece about Gregor. Since then I've posted about 7000 words, and have rather more than that in progress. I have that part of my brain back, and it's glorious.

None of which would have happened, I suspect, if I hadn't liked "Rocks in the Pathway" enough to chase it down a second time and fall down the rabbit hole.

So, thank you.

Thank you!

(I finally tracked the first steps of the chain, by the way; melannen commented in a journal that we both read on LJ, and had recently linked to you. And the somewhat long-winded saga of how I lost my writing and got it back again is up in my journal, if you're curious.)
