Give or take the Mountain Dew.

PS If you have a hankering to write short fic to prompts but not on a kinkmeme or tumblr or whathaveyou, try out fan_flashworks! It's an Amnesty challenge until May 1, so you can pretty much roll your own, and if you tell 'em I sent you I get a toaster badge! :D You know you want to! The first one's free!

Ahem. Anyway. Fic!

Derek/Stiles. Not explicit. 2700 words. Trust issues and Mountain Dew.
When Stiles said, "Hey, let's play truth or dare," Derek swallowed the anticipation of pain and humiliation and said, "Okay."

Truth or Dare

comments

It's that time of year again, when I resurrect this meme for annual-comparison purposes. Last year and the year before I posted about my top ten stories on the AO3 by hits and here's this year's list:

( Oh look, it's a lot of Teen Wolf. )

So my top ten is 70% Teen Wolf, and eight stories from last year were knocked out by stories from this year; I would blame this entirely on Teen Wolf, but last year I had six stories knocked out by new ones, so it's not actually totally unprecedented.

Still, though.
A couple of weeks ago I went running for the first time in a couple of months (I run outside, so ice and cold and snow are serious deterrents and, yeah, next year maybe a gym membership for the winter) and ... I didn't actually do anything I could perceive, I just came up lame all of a sudden, and after that my foot hurt to even walk on for several days.

The first or second night after it happened, I had a dream about taking a long bicycle trip.

Yes, thank you subconscious, I have cracked your code. Maybe it would be better to take up a non-impact activity at least temporarily.

Last night I spent a lot of time staring at my Generation Kill wolf-verse Iraq story, which I had skipped out of working on for a few days in favor of scribbling away at Teen Wolf kidfic. I also spent some time talking (whining) to the very patient petra and iulia about how much I didn't want to work on the Iraq story and how I knew I needed to finish it and how I was grimly determined but wahhhhhhhh. Etc.

Last night, I dreamed I was re-enlisting in the Marines, complete with two dude Marines following me up to the table to sign both leering at me and joking (I felt coolly superior to them, as I outranked them, which they would realize once we were all back in uniform) and standing tall at attention, determined to show no fear, while a bored officer warned me that there was a fifty percent chance the gas mask drill I had to do as part of the fitness test for re-enlisting would involve actual gas of some kind.

Yes, subconscious. I GET IT. I'm going to do this, and I'm going to do it well, even if parts of it suck and hurt. YES. OKAY.

comments

Soooo I first started this one--intending that it should have a bit of a plot woven into the porn--sometime around December. Of 2010. It's been a bit of a thorn in my paw as I've gone forward with the series (and I've abandoned it at least twice only to pick it back up). So now it's done! And a PWP!

This is, more or less, the eighth story in the internal chronology of The World That You Need, though the (ye gods) tenth posted.

Many thanks to ellen_fremedon for beta, and to iulia, oliviacirce and rubynye and the other usual suspects for encouragement!

Aral/Jole, (Aral/Cordelia).
I have been reading a lot of really awesome fic lately, to the detriment of my focus on Vera Brittain's Testament of Youth, which is also awesome but involves a lot of people dying but, thus far, no one having scorchingly hot sex on-page. (I'll let you know if that changes.)

Anyway, here, share my screwed up circadian rhythm! Wikipedia informed me that his performance had been compared to Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy; otoh I had the vague impression from Tumblr or something that it was kind of grim.

:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

( A few reaction points. )

9.
