So I'm sitting here, with Napoleon and Illya on my desktop, the Headstones on my headphones (thanks brooklinegirl! I'm holding you and/or Hugh responsible if I'm snarly all day...), noodling the hockey AU and poking around the LJ end of the Band of Brothers slash fandom.

Okay, about that last one.

The main LJ community for it appears to be camp_toccoa, and it seems to be a very cool community indeed, and there is a web archive and everything. I haven't yet managed to wrap my brain around it sufficiently to read any fic (WWII soldiers and hockey players being, apparently, the only real people who kick my RPS-flinch) but I was poking around the user info and found the following in the userinfo, as part of the submission guidelines:

If you're posting an RPS story, please, put it behind an LJ-cut and attach a clear warning for those who don't care for this genre.

And all I can think is, the fuck? I mean, for starters, this is a clearly labeled slash community in a whole fandom based on (granted, slightly fictionalized on HBO) real people - two posts back in the community journal, somebody's pimping a magazine profile of the men of Easy Company, so people can pick up details on the guys for fanfic. And secondly, if they're not counting fic about the guys in the HBO miniseries as RPS, on the grounds that they're fictional characters who just so happen to be based on real people, who on earth would they be writing real RPS about? Is there BoB actorslash out there?

And why the hell does the thought of Ron Livingston/Damian Lewis slash bother me less than the thought of Nixon/Winters?
