I'm having one of those moments when I realize how utterly weird and unnatural life in America in 2004 is. I just ate a Payday bar (yeah, so it's only 9:30 in the morning; I've been up for close to four hours already, and it's one of those days) and - to my utter shock, it tasted ever so slightly different from every other Payday bar I've ever eaten in my entire life. Some of the peanuts were slightly over-roasted and it tasted really, really great.

But - different! A failure of mass production, in which one extruded candy bar was not perfectly identical to the next! It did not taste precisely the way I expected it to, and I was so shocked by that fact that I had to post about it!

It's sort of like the time I was eating a bag of Cheetos (uh. I heart vending machines? A lot?) and, in the midst of licking radioactive orange powdery Cheez flavoring off my fingers, happened to notice that the product illustration on the front of the packet was poorly dot-colorized, so that the bright orange of the Cheetos was muted into a sort of tan color, and my first thought was Ewwww.

My second thought was, I have been programmed to find food colors that actually exist in nature off-putting. I could not survive in the wild.
