HOUSE. OMG.

So I've spent the weekend downloading and watching episodes of House, MD. I watched episode 11 - Detox - when it aired on TV, then six and seven, then one through five. So my chronology is a little confused, but OMG LOVE. Also, how cool is it finding a show where I only have to catch up by ten episodes?

I know he's an ass, but really - he does seem to only unleash the assholery on patients in the process of telling them they're not particularly sick. He's sometimes quite patient and relatively gentle with them - the boy in episode six whose mom was sick, for instance. Of course, sometimes he makes a great show of not remembering their names, but, well, okay. He's an asshole.

I'm reminded of my high school English teacher pointing out to us when we were reading Jane Eyre, how Byronic heroes may be very romantic, but you wouldn't want to actually have to live with one. House strikes me as very much the Byronic hero - and the reactions of the people around him seem to almost universally reflect just how irritating it is to have to deal with one on a daily basis (except the trio, who have Stockholm Syndrome, and Wilson, who is blinded by love and doesn't actually have to put up with House being a jerk to him very often).

Okay, so, second episode, Paternity. What the hell happened at the end there? House went to a lacrosse field, where he either watched a game and continued standing there until everyone else was gone, or remembered/hallucinated one. Either way, the game he watched and the boy he rooted for (Wheels, 1-8, wheels) were not Dan (18 was on the Comets; Dan was number 29 on the Tartans - one could fanwank a reason why he wound up changing teams and jersey numbers after his hospital stay, but it doesn't make any sense from a production standpoint; it would've been much easier to only have to do up two sets of jerseys instead of four, so clearly they're making it different on purpose, for a reason). Clearly, from the way he picked up his cane, House played lacrosse himself, in the Before. Was he standing there recalling his own days as a high school lacrosse star, his own father (not-his-father?) calling to him from the sidelines? Inquiring minds need to know.

Also, omg Chase. I am desperately madly in love with Chase. Floppy-haired English Australian ex-Catholic woobie! And my brain is scripting Chase/Cameron, though at the moment it's just the two of them agreeing that they could never no never because House would know and then he would say things and they would both rather remain celibate for the rest of their lives than deal with that.

Also, House eats Dairy Milk. Thank you, Hugh Laurie. Thankyouverymuch.

And, wow, House/Wilson = OTP. Could there BE more love? Christmas dinner! New ties! Suuuuure, you love your wife, Wilson. You just love House more. It's okay. We won't tell.

So. In short, OMG SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Also, I, uh. Seem to be pondering IMan kidfic. Because [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl said so. Please send help.
