I finally broke down and made an outline, which is not yet very useful for predicting how much of the story is left, but does tell me that the scene currently in progress is scene 58. Very exciting things have been happening in the last little bit (as opposed to the first, oh, 47,000 words, which I assure you are entirely pointless.)
