live from Maryland
Back in Maryland from Thanksgiving/fangirl weekend in New Jersey/Boston-ish with
strangecobwebs. I'm happy to report that after a total of, um, A LOT, of hours in the car together, Strange and I have STILL not defriended or maimed one another. I even met her extended family and gained some insight into the ways of the People of Bruce Springsteen. Also: discovered that some people find it hilarious when people natively from the lower peninsula of Michigan respond to the question "Where are you from?" by raising their right hand and pointing to it.
People not from Michigan, seriously--how funny is it?
People from Michigan, back me up here: this is a thing we all do, yes or yes?
After Thanksgiving concluded, Strange and I continued on up to the Boston area. We stayed with
brooklinegirl, who is the most fabulously fabulous hostess ever! And we got to see, at various times and in various combinations,
mrsronweasley and
aneli8 and
giddygeek and
misspamela, and I got to meet for the first time
rubynye (thanks for the fruitcake!) and
lordessrenegade (PENGUINS!) and
giglet (Um, I'm not usually that intoxicated! Hi!)
There was much watching of stuff: Sentinel bloopers and Joe Flanigan in Family Album and David Hewlett in Century Hotel and this week's Numb3rs on Saturday morning on TiVo, in a group of five fangirls, and there is really nothing better than the part where Don does the COOLEST THING EVER and the whole room bursts into cheers and we immediately rewind and watch that again. Twice.
And then, of course, there were vids, which led DIRECTLY (THANK YOU,
barkley, "FANCY" IS THE BEST THING EVER) to spending all of Sunday on
brooklinegirl's couch giving her a crash course in Early Stargate SG-1. I occasionally forget for a few minutes how much INSANE LOVE I have for pretty much every person onscreen in any given SG-1 episode, and this was the bestest way to rediscover it, yet again. *g*
And then home again home again through many scenic New England and Midatlantic states, to skip class, curl up in bed, and write 211 words of something that is, hopefully, going to turn out to be my
yuletide story. Yay?
