Hooray, someone else has succumbed! Stephen Maturin is probably my favorite fictional character in the universe, and Aubrey/Maturin is my all-time number one truest of OTPs. And if you started writing in that fandom, I would cry tears of joy.

By the way, if you are ever in a situation where you have a lot of hours to kill listening to audiobooks, I cannot recommend highly enough the Recorded Books unabridged editions read by Patrick Tull.
