excuse me while I have a little moment of personal schmoop.
I had been holding the date in mind ever since I first calculated it--sometime while I was living in Maryland; I remember that I was standing on a Metro platform while I did the mental arithmetic.
And then, of course, I totally forgot it when it actually happened. My newest niece had been born three days before, and I was already thinking ahead to our trip up north together, and as one of my professors was fond of pointing out, rembering that is an entirely different task from remembering to.

iulia for more than half my life. I honestly don't know what I would do without her, or who I would be.
