all right then!

You know, I will admit: I am not the world's most passionate George R. R. Martin fan. I'm not even in the running, given I still haven't read the fourth book. I kind of vaguely thought it was neat that there was going to be an HBO miniseries, you know, hooray genre getting on the telly (not TV, HBO, whatever) and so on.

Okay, so. I AM INVESTED NOW, OH YEAH.

Although this means Sean Bean will ONCE AGAIN die a big heroic death at the end and I will probably reprise my damn half hour of weeping from Fellowship of the Ring. So there's something to look forward to...

I am sorry, but no. I'm fine with not expecting George R.R. Martin to be my bitch and finish his series - but that also means he doesn't get the awesome of a Sean Bean movie until it's done. *foot down*

I adore these books like crazy, and so far I am totally delighted with what little casting news I've seen. Given HBO's track record (The Wire, The Sopranos) I trust them to take this incredibly rich and complicated universe of characters and do something good with it -- and omg, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion and Sean Bean as Eddard Stark? OH YES PLEASE.

*squee*

Oh, man, wow. I just read them for the first time within the last...what, six months, maybe? All four of them. So I am totally a new fan, and have not yet suffered through years of waiting for book 5 to come out, though I am tapping my toes plenty impatiently now! *g*

But yeah: if anyone's going to make these into tv or film, I feel like it ought to be Peter Jackson or HBO, you know? And actually HBO will probably do it best -- they can handle vast casts of morally-ambiguous characters. &hearts!

Also: did you see the central houses drawn as South Park characters?

Mmmmmmm that is one sexy, sexy Eddard Stark.

Just idle curiosity, as I never got further than the first book... does *anybody* you actually like enough to want them to survive do so?

Yeah, I thought so. The people-you-didn't-like-being-likable thing, that is. There were signs.

I may decide to read the series when all the books are out. But probably not.

Oh my god, seriously? I am with you on not being the most passionate fan ever and not having read the fourth book (yet), but, but, OH CRAP.
