I'm a huge Eliot fan! The tattoo looks fantastic, too. Awesome. :D
I've always thought that if I got a tattoo it would be Tennyson ("Come, my friends, 'Tis not too late to seek a newer world") across my shoulderblades.
Oh, that sounds beautiful! This one started out as my "if I were forced to get a tattoo, it would be..." and I promptly realized that I actually wanted it. It just took me a couple of years to get my act together, but after wanting it for two years I was really sure. :)
I change my mind too often about things; I'm worried that if I ever got a tattoo I wouldn't like it after a few years. If I still like the idea of it in another few years, maybe I'll do it.
Oh, it's Eliot! I thought something was strange. I know the Julian of Norwich quote as 'All will be well and all will be well and all manner of thing shall be well' which has a different meaning for me entirely :-) [/mystic]
Thank you! I kept hunting around the internet for fonts before I realized that what I was actually looking for was the exact font of the paperback copy of the Four Quartets that I have. So I just photocopied the page and asked my lovely tattoo artist to stencil from that. :)
Right? Even if we suffer the No More Mirrors Ever Apocalypse, I will still be able to read the tail end of my tattoo. Not that I considered that possibility beforehand. Or anything. Um.
Thank you! Julie and I say it to each other on bad days, and it works pretty well as a general representation of my outlook on life. And, ha! My quest to be Marna when I grow up clearly has gone literary and subliminal. Or subdermal. One of those. :)
That was pretty much how this one came about--I did the hypothetical "what would I get if I was going to get anything?" and then realized I genuinely wanted this tattoo. :)

We actually quote that one at each other a lot around here.
Ian says, "I would have said Marna was the only one I could ever see getting that, but I guess I would have been wrong."
