Dear Yagkyas...

Dear [livejournal.com profile] yagkyas writer (I cannot help thinking "yagkyas yak", but I know you are probably not a yak at all, not that it's any of my business if you are),

Ahem. Hi! Thank you in advance for the story!

I took a sort of Yuletide approach to my requests, asking for stuff I've never or only rarely seen being written. Rudy/Pappy and Nate/Mike both strike me as sort of obvious pairings that just don't get written for some reason, and I would love even just a taste of either one! I love the relationships they have onscreen, and I'd love to see an expansion of that in a sexy way or whatever you'd like to explore (which is to say: gen or pre-slash or non-explicit slash is totally okay with me for these pairs, but obviously if you can get them into bed together that's even more fun)! I also requested Nate and Brad as standalone characters, because I do adore them either separately or together, and if writing anything other than Nate/Brad breaks your brain, you know. Go for it! Have fun! \o/

I love AUs and, er, perhaps obviously, fusion-y things. One of the things I love about Generation Kill is how high the stakes are for them all the time--in terms of both the danger they're in and how necessary it is for them all to get along and function as a unit, so if you want to do an AU that preserves or enhances that intensity, I will be delighted. On the other hand, I also love the breaks in that tension--one of my perennial story prompts is asking for fic about people doing their laundry. Or not doing it, maybe, in the case of the GK guys. A quiet little moment like that would delight me!

I think the prompt I put in my request was a song lyric from the Mountain Goats song "Beautiful Gas Mask," which just seemed appropriate because a) gas masks! and b) I love the Mountain Goats a lot. You can listen to the song here, if you're so inclined: Beautiful Gas Mask on youtube. I also considered using a lyric from U2's Some Days Are Better Than Others, which kind of represents to me the way these guys approach all of these extreme and insane situations as, well, their day job.

And, of course, feel free to ignore all of this if it's not helpful! Have fun writing, and thank you again!

And for everyone who is not my YAGKYAS writer--as well as my YAGKYAS writer, of course--here is a picture of the, uh, extremely manly Marine Corps Marathon route, which somebody shared on FB last night.
