21 First lines!
Because I am a sucker for memes. And this is about how much brain power I have left today. :D
From assorted people, the first lines of my last 21 stories, in reverse chronological order.
[1] Stiles parked his Jeep a couple of hundred yards past the sign for the Beacon Hills Preserve.
[2] Aral got dressed while Arkady was in the shower.
[3] It didn't seem strange.
[4] Stiles wasn't really surprised when Isaac started tagging along to what had been Stiles and Scott's one-on-one lacrosse practice sessions.
[5] Derek had told him that it was usually the youngest in the pack, so Stiles had assumed (once he got past the mental image of Derek as a kindergartener, wearing a red Santa hat and bossing around all the adults of the Hale pack) that Boyd would be the obvious choice.
[6] Brad's team was waiting in the ready room off the garage when Nate came in to give them the final go order.
[7] "Vindictive is one thing," Derek says, shaking his head.
[8] Toreth opened his eyes when he heard footsteps returning from the bathroom.
[9] Derek made it easy for him, holding still and keeping quiet while Stiles concentrated on tying the knots.
[10] Derek stopped in the shadow of the tree in the Stilinskis' backyard and listened.
[11] Given the nature of the complaint, Laisa stayed at Gregor's side when his personal physician arrived to examine him.
[12] Stiles had plenty of experience with putting himself out there and getting shot down.
[13] Jackson spent a week deleting Derek's texts and voice mails--every single one was a terse demand to meet somewhere isolated, which, fuck no, he had not been born yesterday--and the infinitely creepier polite emails signed Peter Hale, and then the inevitable happened.
[14] Derek didn't speak, and kept a hard grip on the back of Isaac's neck, until after the sound of Stiles's rabbit-quick heartbeat had faded from Isaac's ears.
[15] Stiles grabs the Sig and the Glock from the gun safe, tucking both into the front of his pants before he dumps the holsters, empty clips, ammunition boxes, and cleaning kit into his backpack.
[16] His destination is a two-hour drive from the airport, and even that isn't enough time to acclimate Nate to the change.
[17] Arkady was awakened before dawn by a knock on the door.
[18] Stiles's phone rang while he was bringing groceries inside; he cast a quick glance back toward the Jeep, but he'd grabbed everything perishable for the first trip.
[19] When the pups were a week old Nate brought the stack of forms into Bo's den after chow.
[20] It happened so fast, and completely out of nowhere.
[21] Derek banished his betas the moment he recognized his symptoms.
