Sometimes the reason LJ suddenly looks really strange and won't let you change to a different less-strange style and also no one seems to be posting is YOU ARE LOGGED OUT.
Hahaha, I do this on AO3 about once a month - "Whoa, why are all the colours wrong? Wait, is the top of the page subtly different? WHO TOOK AWAY THE LATER AND BOOKMARK BUTTONS THAT IS SO STUPID I CAN'T BELIEV- oh, yeah, I didn't login!" *facepalming mightily*
It oddly hadn't happened to me in a long time--or at least didn't get as far as me being like "why does everything look so strange??" before I figured it out. Maybe next time I will remember this?
Right? And it's LiveJournal, so it seemed perfectly POSSIBLE that there was no way to not view the stupid new friends feed page, and also that no one had posted for three days.
And see with LiveJournal it seems TOTALLY PLAUSIBLE that they would just change the friends page view and not let you change it back! So I was just like "ugh this is the worst" but then accepted it. *g*
RIGHT? I was just like. WHY WON'T IT LET ME MODIFY MY JOURNAL STYLE?? DO FREE USERS ONLY GET DEFAULTS NOW? No bb, PEOPLE WHO ARE LOGGED OUT only get defaults.
It would. :D I think we're all ready to believe the worst of LJ when it comes to stupid decisions, both design-related and otherwise... *wry* Though Tumblr users seem to have it even worse, from what I can tell!
