Happy Yuletide Deadline Day to all who celebrate!
Deadlines more or less worked their magic for me this year--my Yuletide and Dreamling Secret Santa stories are both done and posted and edited (in more or less that order of operations) to the point where I feel no more need to look at or think about them before reveals, and the end of my witcher fixit fic, The End Is Where We Start, is written and only needs a little editing (and, okay, maybe one more scene written but a SHORT one I swear) to be ready to post the last chapter this week. \o/
AND I finished all my Christmas shopping (or at least, the ordering--a few items may be a bit dicey in terms of actually arriving before I want to give them to people, but that is out of my hands now). And I got my food assignment for Christmas dinner with my family which thankfully fell into the "okay to bring store-bought" category, so I am spared from having to figure out how to make anything.
So now I am sort of picking my head up and looking around at all the stuff I wasn't working on while I was working on stuff with deadlines, and trying to gather up all the strands I dropped there. And... at least noticing that I haven't been working on my cross-stitch projects much since I started writing a lot again, though I have not quite figured out where to fit that into my days again. And also thinking very seriously about catching up on laundry, but I'm not rushing into anything there. Laundry is eternal, right?
I decided to get myself an advent calendar full of chocolates this year, because I was always feeling vaguely envious of people who had advent calendars and also I like chocolates, and I finally realized that, you know, I'm an adult and that's a thing I can just have! for myself! So now I get a little Monty Bojangles truffle each day (or forget about it for a few days and then have a little pile of truffles to choose from) and it is a nice little daily joy to add to my December.
