dira | One year ago today meme

I hadn't - quite - started my livejournal a year ago today, but I've been keeping paper journals since 1995, so I checked those, and was sort of amused to find that last February 26 I'd written:

Once again seized with a sense of what a bizarre pasttime this is, recording the date and the time and sequenial number, filling pages with my blathering... keeps me off the streets, though.

iuliamentis and I were talking a few days ago ... about my compulsive auto-archiving. Iulia seemed kind of amused/disturbed by the sheer quantity of paper I've accumulated, and my tendency to, y'know, actually look at it regularly. I just said something about being self-centered.

So I guess there's something about late February that compels people to look back.
