I have this roommate. She likes to think that she's "hard core" because she owns yellow Doc Martens and sometimes smokes. She disdains "Creep" by Radiohead because it's the Radiohead song that *other* *people* like. People, it goes without saying, who are not as hard core as she is. Any music that actually manages to get played on the radio is already too mainstream to have her respect.
I don't think she's seen Hard Core Logo, and despite the state of cold war in the house I really, really feel the need to find a way to get her to watch it with me. Partly, I honestly think she'd like it. Partly, just because I know she'd latch onto Joe just as fiercely as I have latched onto Billy, and then, y'know, I'd feel some sort of moral superiority when *my* guy made it out alive. Plus, I don't know, it just feels like it would sum up a lot of stuff. She's a Joe person, or likes to imagine herself so. I'm a Billy person. There. End of story.
