Well, don't I feel like a dumb butt...

For a few months now, I've been living on my own in a one-TV digital cable household. My digital cable box and my VCR don't talk to each other, so I haven't been able to tape anything off cable (meaning I totally missed the Paul Gross bio that aired on CBC last Thursday while I was out of town - don't suppose anybody taped that?)

Today, while staring at the little cable-bill insert rabbiting on about signal decoders I could rent that might make my VCR and cable talk to each other, I suddenly realized...

There's cable coming out of the outlet in the wall. My VCR does just fine with cable going in. If I just take the stupid cable box out of the circuit, my VCR will work just fine. And so it does. I even managed to figure out how to unhook it from the splitter, instead of the wall, so that my cable internet still works. And so I will be able to tape tonight's rerun hockey game, and H20, and anything else on a basic cable channel that strikes my fancy.

Which means that, contrary to my earlier predictions, I will go to write club tonight. And maybe even write something. I hope.
