miscellany

Feeling a bit weird this week - but then, my best friend and her boyfriend, two of my five housemates and the only ones I actually talk to - are in Hilton Head with his parents. Haven't seen them since Saturday, which means my human interactions are pared down to email and random two-minute encounters with best friend's boyfriend's younger brother, who seems to have moved in. So obviously I'm feeling a bit weird.

Have gone to the park and sat in the sunshine two days this week - today I read an entire book (Reading Level: 5.7, but still, a whole book). Locked Away by Nancy Werlin. Not as good as The Killer's Cousin but not bad. Next up: Byron and Greek Love: Homophobia in 19th Century England, because, as I've said, I sure do know how to have fun.

And in the Unchecked Melodrama corner: my song for the week is "Sober" by Tool, which keeps coming up on our 'New Rock Alternative' radio station even though, as it turns out, it's from 1993. All the Detroit (well, and Windsor) radio stations have been getting steadily further from their stated genres for a couple of years now. Anyway, it came on tonight when I was going to the grocery store, so I cranked it up and sang along.

Why can't we not be sober?
I just want to start this over.
Why can't we sleep forever?
I just want to start this over.

Feeling, as I said, a bit weird.
