it's raining, it's pouring...
...it's time to buy a new computer?
On the one hand, it's a good thing I had that virus scare last week, because my backups were mostly up to date and when my computer started behaving strangely the first thing I did was grab my disks and make sure all my stuff was secure. And, given that Mark Pierre is a Compaq laptop (I know, I know, what was I thinking?), it's not like I didn't see this coming.
His power source has died (as in, the little green light on the cord comes up fine, but nothing happens when I plug it in...) and after several fruitless attempts at calling local service places I have realized: it's Memorial Day weekend. They're all closed until Tuesday. ::bangs head on desk::
On the bright side, I don't have to worry about data and, as far as I understand it, this should be a fairly simple hardware fix. I'm not so much worried this time as ... bemused. Well, and sad about the coming departure of yet more imaginary plastic money.
