Monday, Monday, Monday.
It is Monday, I am at work, tonight I have class, and I forgot to bring comfy shoes to change into. Moving on.
I wrote a flashfic! It's Don/Charlie, rated R-ish, 325 words, over at
numb3rsflashfic: Down the Drain. The current challenge is Hair and you all KNOW you want to give it a try! Curly, spiky, ponytailed, shaved, graying, crosshairs, hair of the dog, Hair the musical... The possibilities are, as they say, endless.
I realize I haven't said, uh, anything about it, but two episodes into the new season I am really pleased with Numb3rs. It probably doesn't hurt that my standards are low (my scale pretty much runs from "I want to write porn about these characters RIGHT NOW" to "I need to go find season one and clutch it to my chest") but after a weekend playing it over in my head I think I know what I liked best about Friday's episode and I think it was actually good. It was the last five minutes--the standoff scene. From the first instant I saw a rifle in Don's hands, I was all tensed up on the couch muttering Don, don't be the one, don't be the one, please don't make Don be the one--because after everything that had just happened, he was absolutely set up to blow Crystal away and it would absolutely damage him more than just about anybody (with the possible exception of Megan). And it didn't have to be Don; it could have been Megan (and, really, how fucking cool would that have been?) or Edgerton (perfectly satisfying--it's his niche, and the sniper ex machina would have rescued Don again) or Crystal herself. I was sitting on the couch both knowing it would be Don and not knowing what would happen and--that is probably just the rudimentary textbook definition of creating tension, but, god damn they did it well for once, and then they showed Don ejecting the cartridge and turning away and punched all my OH, YOU MORALLY AMBIGUOUS WOOBIE buttons with it, and I liked it and in conclusion YAY MY SHOW MADE ME HAPPY THIS WEEK!

r_morrow_daily is doing a post a day of "Two Daughters" screencaps (Don-centric, obviously) all week. The first two posts are already up and I cannot WAIT for Thursday and Friday's.
