Two festival concerts, no headliners.
Yeah, we came home without seeing Linkin Park. Tomorrow is Monday, okay? And as
strangecobwebs pointed out to me and
bayleaf in the parking lot, Linkin Park after My Chem would have been nothing but the post-coital cigarette, and none of us smoke, so it was just as well.
Bullet points:
-Gerard Way is the fuckin' sheriff of Emo-Town. Cry! Cry!
-Best ever use of Bob's two-drum-kit rotating riser: giving Bob a playmate. Michael Pedicone (of The Bled) joined him up there for Teenagers, and if there is anything more mesmerizing than watching two drummers sitting back to back and playing in unison, I really don't know what it is (apart from maybe the part where Gerard was demanding that we admire Michael's tattooed shirtlessness, and Bob reached back and squeezed his bicep.)
-Gerard was 1 tonight, according to the side of his neck. He also seemed to have something written on the knuckles of his left hand, but I'm fucked if I know what.
-During Mama, there was a break in which Gerard started introducing the band (emphasizing the very low v-neck of Frank's shirt by shoving his hand into it, which seeemed to be the extent of The Gay tonight; grabbing Matt Cortez and then Ray by the hair). James DeWees was playing piano under him as he spoke, and at first I thought I was hallucinating, and then I realized I wasn't, and then I leaned over to
strangecobwebs and said (yelled) "Is that JOURNEY? Is that FAITHFULLY?" AND THEN RAY TORO STARTED PLAYING IT TOO.
-Frank's damage report seemed to amount to one guitar early on and something (a monitor?) off stage right--he was lying down for the end of a song, kicking at something, and a tech had to come out and, I don't know, possibly get him untangled from something, possibly fix whatever it was he knocked down/broke? It was hard t tell. We've all agreed to spend way more money on seats next time.
-Gerard's feather boa was pink.
-Gerard is from New Jersey; he doesn't need your Senses Fail t-shirt, he has like fifteen of those fuckin' things.
-Gerard has discovered fourth base. It is apparently somewhat lower down and further back than third. And calls for more whispering than third, which involved a lot of panting.
