Horrible Fanon Childhood Showdown, Round 3

If my math is right (which it may not be) this is the Hemisemidemifinal Round!

Eliminated from Round 2 for having just sort of medium horrible fanon childhoods:

Winners' Bracket
Sam Winchester (Supernatural)
Benton Fraser (due South)
Ryan Ross (Panic at the Disco)
Archie Kennedy (Horatio Hornblower)
Nick Stokes (CSI)

Losers' Bracket
Logan Echolls (Veronica Mars)
Blair Sandburg (The Sentinel)
John Sheppard (Stargate Atlantis)
Spike (vampire childhood) (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Tom Paris (Voyager)

Meanwhile, Ken Hutchinson, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Alex Krycek, Parker, Wesley Wyndham-Price, and Draco Malfoy will be joining the Winners' Bracket (Unspeakable Trauma) quest for the worst of the worst fanon childhoods, and Eliot Spencer, Ryan Atwood, Brendon Urie, Spock, and Horatio Hornblower have been bumped down to the Losers' Bracket (Cheer Up, Emo Kid!) to contend for least-worst fanon childhood.

And now, the polls!

On the other hand, I'm impressed as hell that Obi-Wan Kenobi pulled out the win against Archie Kennedy. I thought he was a goner; now that he's facing off against Snape, I predict re-relegation by a landslide. :-)

Thank god. That makes so much more sense. (Not that I know overmuch about Archie Kennedy's fanon childhood, except that I hear people say "oh, Archie"; but I know plenty about Obi-Wan's, and "emo kid" is right. But frankly anyone ought to be able to beat Han Solo in this event. With one hand tied behind their back. Which would, I suppose,be a factor in their miserable childhood, depending on who tied it there and when.)

I had a tough time, but I had to go with Wes- it's hard to remember but he was REALLY spindled back then.

I've only seen one reboot fanfic so far that went there. Are there more?

Yes, there are more, but I haven't done much by way of bookmarking ST XI fanfiction, and it's rarely the focus of the story, just background and woobification. You get three hits at AO3 if you search for Tarsus, but I've only read one of those stories. It's part of waldorph's Illogical (√π233/hy7) series, which is a Good Will Hunting AU. (It works, oddly enough.)

Anyway, yes, I run across the aftermath of Tarsus IV in Kirk stories often enough that I totally think it counts as fanon.

The one good one that I can think of where it is the focus is [personal profile] ninhursag's Like Lightening. And someone made a ficfind request at kirk_mccoy.

Oh, yes, that's a great one! I just never recognize it because I don't think the title goes with the story.

I agreed with everyone...

except Daniel vs Tony -- sure, Daniel has a lot MORE total fanonical childhood cruelty, but he actually has stories with okay childhoods. I'm not sure there are Tony stories without horrors hidden under his blandly smartassish exterior [g].

Great quest -- continue, grasshopper!

Clearly I've been reading the wrong Torchwood fic, because I though Vin Tanner's fanon childhood was epically horrible to the point of being ridiculous. ;)

Rodney McKay against Draco is just cruel. I couldn't imagine not voting for my woobie Rodney for something but Draco wins by a landslide here. Which sucks because canon Draco's parents adore the little shit.
