Someone please, please, please make me stop scrolling through endless Google Image Search results for Oliver Reed.[1][2] It's not so much that the OH GOD THE SEVENTIES WHY pictures outweigh the periodic startling OH YES YES PLEASE pictures as that I am really supposed to be working on my Yuletide fic and not plotting how I could crop the Getty Images watermark out of the image to make the single hottest Aral Vorkosigan icon ever.

(To say nothing of leaping from Jeffrey Dean Morgan's occasional appearance in the results to the realization that a) there is a striking resemblance, actually, and b) JDM is just prettier enough that he is totally how Hollywood would cast Aral, and thus, c) GUH. JDM!ARAL. Although, I mean, also GUH OLIVER REED!ARAL and GUH ARAL in general.)

1 Lois said one time that pre-serious-alcoholism Oliver Reed was her mental image of Aral Vorkosigan. Or at least a good approximation. Something. This is basically my only meaningful association with Oliver Reed, so when someone randomly capslocks about him on Facebook, this is what happens.

2 This is how we make footnotes at Distributed Proofreading. I have been doing a lot of proofreading lately. It helps me decompress at work when I, for instance, break out in actual hives while dealing with a difficult patron.

Well, this is the one I thought made for a particularly stunning Aral: http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/89039467, and there's this along similar lines: http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/89039484/Hulton-Archive

Oh, nice! The only Getty one I found was one with an awful seventies mustache, and while it was a nice pic apart from that, I just couldn't get over that mustache. But those really are very close to the Aral in my head.
