More different WIP meme

Meme from [livejournal.com profile] rubynye: Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous.

(This icon: appropriate to every WIP listed, in some respect or another!)

So, uh. Apparently I have never quite gotten over filenames needing to be eight characters or less and all one case? Also I am including file extensions partly for the one obvious outlier but also because there is some kind of archaeological layer thing going on with .doc versus .docx files. I got a new computer in July 2010, which is probably the dividing line for those, but plenty of these files are way older than that.

I'm listing these in the order I usually view them, which is by date modified, most recent first.

There are 2.5 fandoms represented here, which is weird, and despite the number of files only four stories, which is weirder. (Full disclosure: I recently bumped some things out of the list of active WIPs, so it now accurately reflects what I'm working on, but I feel kind of naked.) I tend to title story files with a keyword from the working title.

jigsaw.doc - Stargate OT4 of MISERY AND PAIN. A (currently) one-year-and-six-days-late birthdayfic for [personal profile] iulia's 29th birthday, more or less in progress since 2004 and experiencing some forward momentum in the last several days.

sg1-tally-s4.doc - Stargate character-counting demographics for S4. Misery and pain are not out of the question.

deadsheet.xls - spreadsheet for tracking characters in the Stargate OT4. It's ... necessary.

frequently.docx - Aral/Cordelia, the one with the Betan sex checklist. Almost infinitely less porn is involved than that description implies.

afternoon.docx - Deeply, profoundly gen Vorkosigan/Who crossover follow up to "Signals That Sound in the Dark" which has subsequently shed the working title that had the word afternoon in it, so if I haven't worked on it in a while I get confused about what this file is.

jole-canon.doc - what it says on the tin, all of the canon about Jole from The Vor Game.

quiscustodiet.docx - the next story in the Aral/Jole series, except that all that's in the file at the moment is the first three paragraphs of the second scene.

cuttings.doc - also what it says on the tin, bits cut out of various fics going back over the last two years or so. In fact the first paragraph in the story is the abortive start of a fic that wound up subsumed into the Stargate OT4 of MISERY AND PAIN. (Like I said, the spreadsheet is necessary.)

Vorkosigan Armsmen.docx - also also what it says on the tin, an attempt to identify all references to and known biographical facts concerning the Vorkosigan Armsmen. (There are only six named Armsmen: Bothari, Esterhazy, Vogti, Pym, Jankowski, and Roic. And I bet that's one more that you thought there were.)

RLM's TPM Review - transcript.doc - a start on a transcription of Red Letter Media's review of The Phantom Menace, which is mostly brilliant but periodically disturbing, upsetting, and/or annoying. I was leaving out those bits from the transcription. Date last modified: July 30, 2010.

sg1-tally-s3.doc
sg1-tally.doc
sg1-tally-s2.doc - the demographic tally files from the first 3 seasons of SG-1. I think these are mostly still in the WIP folder so that I can readily find them when I want to compare something in the current tally file. Or because I never chose any other folder to keep them in. One of those.

I am now intensely curious about the Vogti fellow, as I have completely forgotten him.

He gets a mention in 'Barrayar' when Vordarian takes some of his family hostage.

... yes, I did actually search the ebooks to figure this out, because I'd never heard of him either. CTRL+F, what a wonderful invention.
