Brain: ur doin it rong

This morning I woke up from a dream in which I was (probably drunkenly; we were sitting at a table very like my general mental image of Hanging Out In The Bar At A Con, give or take also being in a storage container or something) trying to explain to dubious people the inherent genius of my idea to write a story where the Doctor and Rory get soulbonded and obviously this leads to OT3 after some delightful angst, because obviously.

I had already had the idea for this story (late last night, after reading Generation Kill soulbond fic, like you do when you've never seen Generation Kill and you should've been in bed an hour ago but you just discovered that somewhere on the internet, awaiting your download, is a movie version of Persuasion starring Ciaran Hinds as Captain Wentworth LIKE I DIDN'T ALREADY WANT TO MARRY HIM ENOUGH and you figure you might as well read something while you download the constituent files). So, uh, thanks dream-brain, for trying to convince me that other people would be dubious about it. Too bad, because it is GENIUS and I have the EMPHATIC HAND GESTURES to prove it.

YOU HAD NOT YET SEEN THAT VERSION OF PERSUASION?! Oh, you lucky, lucky thing. It is awesome. I don't dislike the other one (with Anthony Stewart Head as Mr. Elliot, which is genius), but that Wentworth is too young, and Mr. Ciaran Hinds' Wentworth is perfect, perfect, perfect. How I envy you.

Also, I read that GK fic yesterday despite never having seen the show, and it was kind of awesome, wasn't it?

I, uh, I had never actually read any Jane Austen until I decided to read Persuasion last week. So I never realized what a great big Persuasion-shaped hole there was in my life but OMG SOON TO BE RECTIFIED.

Also, yes! That was some seriously fantastic soulbond fic. I will now judge all other soulbond fic by it and maybe eventually I would even watch the actual canon for it.

I am torn between "OOH YAY BILLIE" and "My what a bizarre casting choice."

Yeah, she is not poor and plain and little (quoting Jane Eyre, but Fanny is the same character type). I hate all the modern adaptations because they keep wanting Fanny to be full of inner fire and defiance and thst is the opposite of the character; that is Maria, and she gets punished for it. Mansfield Park is a very problematic book in that way.

But Persuasion, especially the Ciaran Hinds/Amanda Root adaptation, is glorious.

I not-so-secretly adore soulbonding fic and I even less-secretly-adore any permutation of Doctor-Amy-Rory so I would read the crap out of that fic. Just so you know.

I have never read a lot of soulbonding but I have kind of fallen in crazy love with this idea! :)
