I just cracked 10,000 words on the (hahaha "totally short") Ray prequel story in the Generation Kill wolf-verse. Ray has at long last removed an article of clothing other than his socks, so at this point I feel like I win.

...As long as I don't think about how long the ~real~ wolf-verse story is going to be. /o\

I'd like to say I'm very sorry your short prequel got so big. It's Ray though, so I confess to being very happy instead and kind of giddy. The thought of having 10k worth of Ray fic is a joyous thing.

If you're up for youtube clips, this post has some that are a pretty good introduction to Brad, Ray, and Nate. The NSFW/non-PC labels are earned multiple times over.

Most of the canon has the "Look, another white dude in a helmet!" problem for me such that I've seen it all and read the two source books, and I still don't know who most of the minor characters are in a lineup.

(And can I be weirded out that Sergeant Rodolfo 'Rudy' Reyes is played by... Sergeant Rodolfo 'Rudy' Reyes? Granted he's hot like a hot hot thing, but still...kind of a brain bender. Especially when one is reading slash fiction about the show.)

Rudy is just ... special. Really, really special. I heard somewhere (and am entirely willing to believe) that one reason Rudy had to play Rudy is that, in Rudy's own words, he is a "unicorn." There is only one of him. There can be no imitation. (He comes back from helping Pappy take out a guy as his sniper-spotter and talks about his DHARMA, okay. HE WANTS TO MOVE TO SAN FRANCISCO. IT IS CANONICALLY NOT GAY IF YOU THINK RUDY IS HOT.)

He's also kind of a Marine Corps phenomenon--every Marine wants to have some kind of claim to know Rudy Reyes. *g* Also he did his own reality show about how to survive the Apocalypse. I haven't tracked that down and watched it, but ... oh RUDY. ♥

Also, if it helps, the mustaches are a PLOT POINT.
