dira | Decisions, decisions.

I normally don't nominate anything for Yuletide--I kind of figure if no one else nominates it, it's not going to get written/requested anyway. But this year, with the three-nomination limit, I feel like I need to Do My Share. But this means I will have to make decisions, you guys, and I sometimes really completely suck at decisions.

My Yuletide thoughts are as follows:

I can probably trust that someone, somewhere, will spend their nominations on Mira Grant's Newsflesh Trilogy, Bear & Monette's A Companion to Wolves/Tempering of Men (look, I can't write ALL the crazy fusions possible for that universe...), Connie Willis's Oxford Time Travel, and The Cloud Roads by Martha Wells which I seem not to have ever been publicly gleeful about, but, you guys, ♥__________♥

So... I probably don't actually need to nominate those myself. Right? BUT WHAT IF EVERYONE ELSE ALSO THINKS THAT? O.O

But I definitely probably am the only person who wants to nominate Niels & Gang, and I don't think I've seen anyone else talking about I Love You Phillip Morris (you guys, it's sweetly deranged prison romance, why is there no fic for this), and, um...

Feed Jake, which I have probably discussed in this space before. It's a 1991 music video (and song) by the Pirates of the Mississippi, featuring teenaged boys in love and their puppy, plus also the hands-down weirdest gay cruise you will ever see in a country music video from 1991. Don't believe me? Just as The Dallas Morning News, which discussed the homoerotic subtext of the music video back in 1991. (Thank you, Wikipedia.)

Leaving aside the fact that I watched this video on CMT when it first aired and now apparently that's twenty years ago... Come on, shouldn't there be fic for this? It's so gay country music fans noticed in 1991. THEY ARE SO IN LOVE. AND THE CANON IS FOUR AND A HALF MINUTES LONG. TWO OUT OF THREE SIGNIFICANT CHARACTERS EVEN HAVE CANONICAL NAMES! Uh, if you count the dog.

...So, um, what do you guys think? Are those my three nominations? Should I really, really stop carrying a torch for a randomly homoerotic country music video from 1991?
