Psychic Wolves for Lupercalia!

Because every fandom needs psychic wolves, you guys! :D :D :D Click the banner for details and rules-that-are-really-more-like-guidelines.

A white wolf, a pink heart, and the text: Psychic Wolves for Lupercalia - A Multi-Fandom Mini-Fest, February Thirteenth through Fifteenth

([personal profile] petra credits me with helping to come up with this idea, but to be honest really all I remember saying is "dibs on Die Hard." That is my story and I'm sticking to it.)

I want to write a story where Patrick Kane joins the Chicago Blackhawks and it's highly unusual for a bonded-to-a-wolf human to join a professional sports team because - quite frankly, the wolves don't stay on the sidelines very well. But it's legal and he's an amazing hockey player so he's allowed to go pro and his wolf does really, really well sitting on the bench. Except for one time when he takes a hit - completely legal, clean hit, but it knocks him down and he's taking a second to get up so his wolf-mate LEAPS over the wall and comes running over to charge his attacker. And Patrick just watches, because she's running on ice and not really doing all that awesomely, sliding around and slipping and he has plenty of time to stand up and skate over to her -- she's still trying to get at the guy who hit him, who isn't sure if he needs to go hide behind a ref or not, because being charged by an irate wolf in slow motion is not as scary as it could be.

And Patrick picks her up -- and awkward, yes, because she's too big to carry but there's no other way to get her off the ice and he sets her down on the bench and by now she's a bit more embarrassed than protective. And the refs decide that, ok, it isn't strictly against the rules to have a wolf on the ice, but it is against the rules to...um... ok, they're gonna look it up, there's gotta be something, so they give him a two minute penalty on the principle that this sort of thing isn't allowed to happen again.

And Jonny, who is head over heels in love with patrick, and doesn't want to let on because they're hockey players and it's the NHL and besides, Patrick's surely going to fall in love with some other wolf-pack person, finds himself being given relationship and wooing advice from Patrick's wolf. Which consists of things he's too dense to pick up on (her words) and of things he's able to brush off as accidental, until finally she drags him by the sleeve over to Patrick and shoves him into Patrick's arms. During practise, unfortunately, so perhaps being in the closet is no longer an option.

Um. But I won't, because... um. Because.

I'm not even into hockey, but I would read the hell out of this!

The Blackhawks aren't my team, so really, all I know about the players' personalities I've learned from fanfic. Which.. makes me really hesitate to write anything. But on the other hand, psychic wolves.

I think I know some people that would be happy to point you in the direction of some useful interviews etc.

God, Kaner bar hopping with his wolf. She'd be the designated...something for the Cup celebrations.

Everyone would *expect* she would be the voice of reason, the responsible one, etc, and keep Kaner out of trouble. But of course there is a reason she bonded with him, and it wasn't because she wanted a pup to take care of her entire life.

But she manages to look a) not drunk and b) more innocent than Patrick so he always gets the blame and everyone feels sorry for her and Patrick can't convince anyone that she just holds her liquor better. On the other hand, it's really really easy to get her drinks served free. So there's that.

Dude, I think at this point it's inevitable that you write that story.

I REALLY REALLY have to finish my other stories first. Although I will say writing this would distract me from writing schmoopy cracktastic mpreg....

Oh my god why. WHY. I was trying to shake my addiction to psychic bonding, wolves, and wolves that do the psychic bonding thing. Why did you have to do that. T________T

One thing i'm glad to hear is you're calling dibs on the Die Hard thing because after that one single line in that fic of yours (DESPERATE EXHAUSTED HUGGING ALL BLOODY IN THAT BATHROOM AHHH) I even went and bought the movie and rewatched it to see how it might be rewritten wolf-style and I couldn't figure out. I am now happiness.

Whether your idea or Mme. [personal profile] petra's, this is BRILLIANT.

I'm having two very different responses to this:

a) Because the wolf found Watson in Afghanistan, rescuing him from a horrible and deadly fate AND THEY BONDED FOREVER.

b) What if Sherlock actually has a secret psychic bond with a wolf and the wolf has been his secret detectiving weapon ALL ALONG??!!

So, I asked this over on [personal profile] petra's before I realized that you had your own post up, but, um, would you mind if I wrote something for this where the wolves were based entirely on your Every Marine a Wolfbrother stories? Because I don't really know A Companion to Wolves (or, for that matter, Generation Kill) but man do I want to write all the crossovers using your framework and other fandoms' military characters. :)

Excellent! Because I've already written about 2500 words of Victorian John Watson and his wolfsister. (I figure anyone else going for Holmesverse will be going for BBC Sherlock but I couldn't resist the temptation to make him discuss telepathic gay wolf sex in Conan Doyle deadpan.)
