Avengers-y things!

I took a day off work today to spend with [personal profile] iulia, who was off work for a health thing (mostly fine now, hopefully) and thus needed to be taken to see The Avengers again. I have a few Avengers-y thoughts:

1. I realized today, watching, that Natasha's whole opening scene of acrobatic ass-kicking is actually unnecessary. She's already essentially rescued, there's no operational necessity for her to fuck those guys up. That's just how she chooses to express her feelings when she finds out Clint's in danger. AND THAT JUST MAKES IT MORE AWESOME.

2. Thanks to assorted things that I assume you've seen linked around and I do not have the attention span to find and link to right now, I spent a lot of the movie focusing on a) the liftiness of all of Tony's shoes and b) the enormous costs of the reconstruction work necessary after the movie. (Superhero stimulus plan! Look at all those construction jobs!)

3. Clint calls her Natasha when she firsts bounces his head off the railing, and when they're sitting together quietly having their moment, but Nat in combat situations. I know you were wondering, so I listened very carefully.
