A kind of silly dilemma

There is a Stardew Valley mod that marks which rock has a ladder under it.

This is the most a mod has ever sounded like Definitely Cheating but OTOH god dammit I want to get past level 26 of the Skull Cavern sometime before I die.

See, this is the thing--there IS no walkthrough, because they're randomly generated each time you play, so you can't learn a route or anything.

well, then this mod sounds like the equivalent of a walkthrough.

srsly, if it increases your enjoyment of the game, install it.

I think with the different strategies for doing Skull Cavern, it's kind of about picking the one where you'd have the most fun. Like potofsoup wrote, if the mod would increase your enjoyment of Skull Cavern, I'd say go for it!

I have just FINALLY REALIZED in like my twelfth playthrough that YOU CAN GET THE FUCKING SLIME CHARMER RING AND NOT DIE OF PURPLE SLIMES and hooboy this is going to be a whole new Skull Cavern experience.

The slime charmer ring is great! \o/ Aha, except then I feel like a coldhearted killer when I slaughter the purple slimes anyway for the chance of getting iridium...

I mean, since crafting staircases is a thing, it's not like finding the ladder down is...idk, a meaningful element of the story? I wouldn't think you're losing out on anything. Also, Skull Cavern is hard as hecking frick, so screw it, cheat! :D

That is an EXCELLENT POINT.

Also in the course of, like, my twelfth playthrough I finally realized that YOU CAN GET THE SLIME CHARMER RING AND BE INVULNERABLE TO PURPLE SLIMES and I think this is really going to change the whole Skull Cavern experience. XD
