Happy birthday,
byob_kenobi!! I hope it's everything you could want in a birthday.
And also, I thnk I mentioned a while back my tendency to figure out very obvious things approximately two and a half years after the fact?
Well, I have struck again. Last night, when
iuliamentis's computer froze up, she shut it down by holding down the power button until it shut off.
I can't say that I'd never heard of that before--seeing her do so sparked some faint chime of recognition in my brain--but I'd certainly never thought to do it myself, with my own freeze-prone computer(s). So when I was going to bed last night, and Mark Pierre hung up on shutdown as he tends to do, I reached out one finger and held down the power button and what do you know? The computer shut down.
I feel as if I should apologize to Mark Pierre for all the unwarranted unpluggings. And to the shade of Karina, my last computer, for same. All told, took me four and a half years of independent computer-ownership to catch on to that one, but hey, better late than never, right?
