Things are looking up...

No hot water this morning - I stood there with my hand under the tap for two solid minutes, shivering, just hoping that I could have my hot shower, but no joy. And I figure, any time you've figured out your day is going to suck by six in the morning, you're pretty much on the money.

But! I got sent down to the sorting room when I arrived at work, which means nothing to do and no one to bother me doing it for two hours, so my day is showing an upward trend already. I started out reading Nightmare by Steven Harper. I bought it at a con shortly after it came out, and then it found its way from the To Be Read stack to my actual bookshelf where it proceeded to languish while I read a lot of porn, and the point is, I have lost a lot of Steven Harper fan cred, which I want back. (Luckily, I can still play the "I bought his books and read them and got them signed when he was still writing under his own name!" card.) I've just passed the part of the book where our boy Kendi has his first crush on one of the other boys, and. Kendi! So adorable!

Anyway. I'm taking a break from reading now to check out my other new fascination. Yesterday, after I asked about single and divorced NHL players, it occurred to me to do something super-obvious and google 'NHL divorced' which lead me to a message board that mentioned that lots of NHL players are divorced, mainly because they screw around on road trips. Some of the commenters mentioned that inside info on said screwing around could be found in the online haunts of puckbunnies (and the link seemed to have been deleted because the graphic descriptions of screwing around at the other end had offended another commenter).

Naturally, I googled puckbunnies, and got this: The Puckbunnies' Bench Message Board. Motto: 'No uptight people, and bashers will be banned. Just have fun, okay!' You can browse through about six months' worth of threads on who's hot, who's available (common question: Does he have a girlfriend/wife? How long have they been together? Is he faithful?) how to bag him, and what they like, including the v. short threads on anal sex, which seems to call Mark Messier to mind for at least one poster, and fetishes, which was met with resounding silence, and then the comment that apparently all hockey players are missionaries. Missionaries who skank around with chicks who then describe their exploits on this slow-loading bright pink message board. They get entertainingly catty about the girlfriends of hockey players (HPs in board lingo, which was initially confusing) and occasionally someone pops up to flame the bunnies who sleep with married guys for being homewreckers.

Slashers should be aware that none of the threads with evocative subject lines like "Hossa/Richards" or "Ilya Kovalchuck and Dany Heatley" or "Battaglia and Aulin" are about what you think they're about. I checked all of them. It's just bunnies who have a target guy and an alternate in mind, and want dirt on either or both (though I've already consigned myself to the special hell by taking the comment about Kovalchuck and Heatley being very close friends and letting my mind go to the schmoopy h/c slash place).

So, if you were wondering where the guys hang out after games, how to hook up with them, whether to wink back if they wink from the ice (tip: they're more likely to slap a puck into the glass right above your head), or just want to read some gossip about hockey players' sex lives (even if it is all, by these reports, het) the puckbunnies are there to help you out.

ETA: More hockey gossip with less focus on banging the hockey players - though still plenty of good clean squee - can be found at the Sin Bin message boards.

Further ETA for my click-through convenience: Hockey Hotties message boards. Sample thread subjects include *Naughty Videos* and Jofrrey Lupul + Herpes?!! so hit that one at your own risk...
