Not sleeping. Really.

So I'm curled up in bed with my teddy bear and my head on the pillow and my comforter over me. I've also got the light on and my computer, so, obviously, I'm not taking a nap. I'm doing some exremely leisurely pre-homework websurfing.

So the whole turning-over-a-new-leaf gig was something of a bust - went to my first class, Weather, where the professor explained to us why it was so cold (the low pressure over Maine turns out to be blameless in my case, though the people in Quebec can shake their fists in that general direction re: the windchill of -60). Due to the cold, and also the fact that my laundry pile is now three feet high and includes all but one of my socks, I wore my ultra-warm, fuzzy, no-socks-required Ugg boots. I don't wear them often, because they're too warm to go on wearing indoors most of the time, but I swear I've made it through an entire day in them before, with no more ill effect than slightly sore feet due to their total failure to provide support. But today, the back of my left ankle ended up cut open by the time I got to my Weather class, and rather than walk all the way up to my Geology lecture and then all the way back to the drugstore after, to buy bandages, I skipped my second class. The Curad HydroHeal bandages are really nice, though.

And once I'd gotten the bandages on, and got enough quarters at the arcade to do a couple of loads of laundry, I headed over to the record store. I'm not cool enough to buy things there, or so I've always felt. It's small, and the cd's are all in locked cases, except the 'bargain' ones. But I was feeling confident, since I wanted a Dar Williams cd and she's one of my least embarrassing musical preferences (we're just not going to talk about the mp3 of 'Sk8r Boi', okay?). And the nice boy in the Superman t-shirt happened over while I was staring through the plexiglass, and smiled as he opened it for me, and smiled some more as I bought two cds, and some more as he played keep-away with my copy of the receipt. It was nice. Weird, but nice. And weird that it was weird, but that's the point where I go buy a pad of paper and stop thinking about it.

So. Have now listened to the new Dar cd, The Beauty of the Rain, three times, and like it very much, but am not listening to it now because a) it kept making me want to cry, and b) I'm too sleepy to get up and put the cd in the stereo.
