I actually feel sick right now.
Just found this post from this morning, before the game, at Gorilla Crouch:
After today's game, it reads like a goddamn checklist.
Brett Lebda was sucker-punched by Daymond Langkow, while down on the ice halfway through the third period. He suffered a concussion from that blow.
Mathieu Schneider was slashed and cross-checked off his feet by Jarome Iginla in the final minutes of the third period, well behind the play.
Johan Franzen was slashed repeatedly, finally with a baseball swing of the goalie stick after play had been stopped, by Jamie McLennan, after McLennan had been substituted for Kiprusoff for no readily apparent reason, three minutes before the end of the game.
Neither Schneider nor Franzen were seriously hurt, but god damn.
This is not my sport. This is not hockey.
Bruce MacLeod of the Macomb Daily has a good stat over at his blog on which Red Wings have been on the ice when Detroit has scored at even-strength. It’s a pretty interesting stat given which players lead the way.
Brett Lebda - 5 goals
Mathieu Schneider - 4 goals
Johan Franzen - 4 goals
