Here's the thing

I've had the same desktop image for about 15 months now. For more than a year, for most of my computer's lifetime, it's been a red background with this picture (and the site is down or I'd link it -it's called "Snug" and it's Fraser and Ray K in white t-shirts, all cuddly-like), looking at me every time I look at my computer. I've endured the polite disturbance of straight guys who happen to see my computer and my Mom's "That looks like two men," and I've just said, Yep, that's Fraser and RayK, and they're part of my computer and I can't change it now. Love this picture. Have been known to just sit and stare at it and feel happy.

But I've never seen an episode of Due South.

Up until about six months ago, I'd never even read a piece of DS fic. Then I was reading someone's lj rant about (un)realistic portrayals of adoption in slashfic, and "With Six You Get Eggroll" by [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza was recced as being a pretty shining example of not screwing it up. I was at work, bored, so I went and read it, and, Awww, two guys (those guys on my desktop! them!) and six kids and a wolf in a cabin in Canadian BFE. Case closed.

So then last night I looked up the user most similar to me, interests-wise; it turned out to be [livejournal.com profile] ishihana, and she turned out to be reccing "The Bodyguard," by [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza. I didn't realize, at the time, that she was the one who'd written "With Six You Get Eggroll," but I figured that out this morning when I hit her website and started reading, y'know, everything she's ever written. I have no idea why it took me so long to get hooked, but now I am, and I'm never going to get any writing (academic or otherwise) done, because, hello. Fraser and Ray, and mmmmmmmmm.
