Victory is sweet and it tastes kind of like this miniature Twix from my coworker's candy jar.
You guys, you guys, ALL MY DUE SOUTH STORIES ARE ON AO3 AND FRESHLY FORMATTED ON MY WEBSITE.
Did I just spend four hours wrangling Hawks & Hands, with its a) stupid, stupid length and lack of actual chapter divisions and b) fucking footnotes omg who thought that was a good idea?
Well, yes. But the point is: now Hawks and Hands is posted on AO3 with its sequel and prequels all nicely linked as related works because I am neurotic about what should and should not be made part of a series, and also now I have a Twix bar. So everyone wins.
(If anyone happens to feel the urge to reread H&H anytime in the nearish future, and you run across, say, a paragraph that got eaten by its footnote, leaving an awkward gap in the text, or ... any other formatting disasters like that, would you please let me know? Just because I already deleted six failed attempts to get it onto that archive doesn't mean I'm necessarily done fighting with it.)
(Also, as it turns out for five years the story has been up on my site with no link to post a comment anywhere, which ... possibly explains the relative rarity of comments on it. Oops.)

Now just ... thirty more stories to go before I'm REALLY done. Well, and I should fix the index pages on my site. And....

I mean. No, there's no built in functionality for footnotes (although wouldn't that be awesome) but if you code them correctly (very correctly) you can include anchored links within the page to take people to and from footnotes. If you are a crazy person and decide to do something like that.

Footnotes would be awesome! You could suggest them?

Hey, yes! I suppose it doesn't matter whether I know how they would implement that, I can just ... suggest, and see what happens!

Including Exposures? Which broke me into itty, bitty pieces and makes me cry every time I read it?! Oy.
H&H is an awesome story and I love it more than the telling of it. I really should re-read it, and I probably will. Hopefully sooner rather than later. ;) Also, it is easy to leave fb on AO3 - with is nice, but I hate that I can't use all my cool icons. I am shallow.
Your coding battles are impressive and you get huge points for sheer determination. \o/

And thank you, I'm glad you've enjoyed H&H! I also wish we could have more icons on AO3, but I suppose it's still amazing that we get any at all. :)

I don't know if that's on your end or AO3's, though. :)
