Oh God I hate moving so much
Soooo my loveseat is in the alley and I am typing this from the aerobed set up in lieu of a couch in the living room, and that is pretty much what you need to know about how the move went. Narrow entryway is really fucking narrow. We (you can tell
iulia has been here the whole time by how I am not just huddled in a corner crying right now) went to two different furniture stores yesterday, once between the movers and the stoner cable guy (who accidentally abandoned his entire box of coaxial cable, so, um, anybody need two hundred feet of coax? No? I guess I should call the cable company and tell them to come pick it up?) and once after the stoner cable guy, by which point I wanted nothing in life more than to curl up in my bed, but sadly the bed was not yet made. And I needed to go to a furniture store, to pay a moderately alarming sum of magical plastic money for modular furniture that I am convinced still will not be able to be gotten into my apartment.
Also, a few hours after I got home from the furniture store I realized that the modules I selected are not going to fit and I need some different ones. So I should call the furniture store, as well as the cable company.
Also also it's really cold in here. So I should probably inquire of my landlord wtf is up with the heat and lack thereof.
Also also also I do not own nearly enough DVDs to fill up the shelf space I allotted them. I am pretty sure this means I need to buy more DVDs, yes?
Or I could just stay right here, curled up on the aerobed. FOREVER. Or until Iulia gets out of the shower and we go out for pancakes. One of those.
Or I could try to think of things that do not suck.
Iulia. She mopped my floors. Everyone we dealt with yesterday thinks she's my wife. As usual, but funny when I am very tired and it is happening several times in a row.
Library. I haz one. It is tiny but it is mine! And I have shelved all the books, because I needed to do something soothing last night, and sorting and shelving books is the soothingest. If you're me.
Aerobed. At least I have a couch substitute to curl up on, right? It makes quite a comfy little nest. Maybe if the next furniture doesn't fit I will just give up and go buy a couple of twin-sized double-height aerobeds, and a dozen more pillows, and call it good. It will be like that year I slept on an air mattress, but ... okay, possibly less inviting for guests? Hm.
Pancakes. Are imminent. With enormous quantities of bacon.

My move was so entirely hellish that I didn't post any details at all. The sooner I can get it out of my memory, the better. But you make me realize how very very lucky I am that they were able to get the couch in at all -- they had to take the door off its hinges, but that's a small thing compared to it not fitting at all.
Good luck getting settled & happy new home!

On the ... bright? ... side, the loveseat is already gone from the alley, so it must have found a good home. *g* And, yeah, it wasn't the door so much as the walls, here. Alas.

There's always the ever-classy foof chair option, if all else fails. (They ship, like, vaccuum-shrunk small and then you have to let the foam expand once you unpack.) Good luck furniture-ating your wonderful new apartment! And everything else!

The pancakes and bacon wound up being Eggs Benedict, but they were indeed awesome, so it all worked out.

*Notes to self: measure doorways when looking at potential new living places*
*Hugs you and offers tea*

It's actually not entirely the doorway, here, it's that all the hallways involve a ridiculous number of turns. So. Measure EVERYTHING, is I guess what I am saying, at least until you figure out where the choke-point is.
