Lydia agrees with me: there are limits to what Tumblr is good for.
I like Tumblr to the extent that it's a venue for completely ephemeral interaction that consists of showing each other gifs and having feels about them. But some people post fic to it, apparently, which I find alternately puzzling and grumpy-making. And yet, I have enjoyed some of that fic! And yet I refuse to reblog it because no. So I shall now perform the Doing It Wrong performance art piece that is Reccing Tumblr Fic on Dreamwidth/LiveJournal:
Now You're Standing in a Big Disaster by
gyzym. Derek is doomed, and Stiles doesn't intend to have any regrets when he's gone.

saucefactory. In which Dr. Deaton helps Stiles even the playing field.
In Which Derek Has a Nice Month and Gets Thoroughly Freaked Out By It by
jebiwonkenobi. What it says on the tin, with bonus excellent Stiles. ♥
[Untitled Kidfic] by
nightrevelations. In which Derek's niece needs Stiles-cuddles.

You know what tumblr works brilliantly for though? Fanart! It makes it so easy to share fanart! I love that!

But that sort of begs the question, doesn't it--why do we feel okay reblogging fanart but not fic? Ugh, Tumblr.

I guess the fic thing really is a knee-jerk reaction. If it's posted on tumblr by the author, then it's clearly okay to reblog it. I don't see any reason it should be different for different kinds of fanwork.
Still though. AO3! We have an archive! And it's awesome! Fic should go on the archive!
(BTW - I get all sadface when I have to read fic on LJ now. AO3 has ruined us.)

So, sadly even as it's gyzym, it's just too annoying. She has an LJ and an AO3 that I follow, I don't get why Tumblr posting?

Embarassing confessiontime - I can't help but feel like DNW to encourage fandom to have Tumblr as the new trend. The prev being fanfiction.net > LJ > DW > AO3 meaning I'm getting old and acting like a grumpy person a lot older than my 35. Sigh. Maybe I'm just too much of a nooo, change is bad.
(Ok, fic archives and personal websites should be in there in that timeline and DW should probably be paralleled rather than as a next step maybe. Oh and I forgot Yahoo groups and mailing lists)

Geocities and angelfire - a historical institution of bad website design. Angelfire's still around though.. I think.

(Can you tell that I had a geocities page? It was awesomely tacky.)
