Like we do

So for the past few weeks, I've been obtaining episodes of a certain British TV show for a work-friend of mine, who is not fannish and not plugged into fannish means of obtaining stuff, but who managed to suss out that I am. No big deal, right, because I have a pretty easy means of getting my hands on it and that's what we do--if I can get my hands on something and somebody else can't, I'll try to help her out. That's how it works. Except that if you're not in fandom apparently sometimes you feel like you have to thank a person who helps you out with chocolate. Not that I'm not okay with chocolate, but I belatedly realized that I should have held out for making her watch Teen Wolf with me as my price.

Also, it led me to work out the following:

A friend will obtain media for you.
A good friend will watch it with you.
Your best friend will write you kinky rarepair porn about it when it's not even Yuletide yet.

I think that seems about right. Although it may make me not a good fan-friend to Iulia, considering the number of things I have politely declined to watch with her, let alone write kinky rarepair porn about. Sorry, bb.

*loves you anyway* Sometimes it is good to be reminded that we are, in fact, separate people. *g*

I was going to say, "I bet she loves you anyway," but she beat me to it. :)

The (counts, flinches) 27 action figures on my desk make it pretty clear that I am the resource for all of my workmates' Doctor Who needs. I regularly have people coming to my door or stopping me in the hall to find out when the show is coming off hiatus, ask where to start with old school Who, or process their feelings about the Ponds.

Lawl. So true.

So what's your kinky rarepair need for Teen Wolf?

I am speechless at the visions dancing through my head. SPEECHLESS.

Nrrrrrgh. And your icon. *pets those shoulderblades*

I'm really intrigued by your Derek/Isaac ideas, though. And by "intrigued" I mean "banging my head against the desk asking why I hadn't thought of that possibility before".

AND SO FANTASTICALLY ATHLETIC.

I knew there was a special particular reason I loved you, Dira.

Oh god yeah. Still, the dichotomy of werewolf strength & human weakness appeals to me, like Stiles (or whoever) getting fucked out of his mind because Derek (or whoever) can't get exhausted. The point where the human just becomes undone—that's the best. For me.

So Papa Stilinski/Peter as teenagers is so badandwrong that I need it immediately. But Papa Stilinski needs a name, dammit.

But I'd still read the shit out of wolf-on-wolf fic.

I like "John", it's better than "Sheriff" or "Dad".

Huh, shows how much I'm actively looking for fic outside of Derek/Stiles. I had no idea about the Chris/Peter fic. (But I can totally see that. Yup.)

Because fandom needs my novel length OFC-POV genfic, right.

It wouldn't be the first time fandom has enjoyed the shit out of something like that.

I would ask about that newsletter comm, but fandom eats about enough of my brain on a daily basis anyway. I'm thrilled with the rec lists of a few people on AO3, yours included. :)

Ylva. LOVE IT. *prods you*

See, you've got it all plotted and everything. It'll be nothing to finish this. Really!

How I feel about hooker fic depends on a lot of factors. I'll still read yours, though.

My feels probably aren't all that unusual: I want to live in an idealized world where prostitution is a chosen profession, not a desperate means to make ends meet (no pun intended). I don't like a power imbalance favoring the john that results in intimidation or fear, abuse of the hooker (unless it's past abuse and you're writing hurt/comfort), exchange of favors for basic necessities like food. I'd rather the hooker hooks because he/she likes sex and enjoys doing something they're good at, even performing a public service. Let me elaborate that I firmly believe in the topping from the bottom and a sub being the one in control, so I'm not some prude or shrinking violet. But submitting sexually out of fear, desperation or self-preservation smacks of rape to me. :/ I also don't have an issue with age, just consent: emotional maturity matters more than the number of months someone has to them. Annie in "Copper" is a fascinating character once you realize how smart and in control she is, at times. Also I read a really great Avengers Clint Barton/Phil Coulson fic that did a nice hooker treatment, if you want a comparison.

I think there's an exception to any rule about fanfic. I've learned a lot about myself for trying things I didn't think I would like. But, primarily, the best writers can sell anything. Your premise sounds like something I'd enjoy. But, yes, finish what you have going now.

Here's the Phil/Clint hooker fic: http://archiveofourown.org/works/336413
gqgqqt is awesome at everything. She has one or two follow ups to this.

Hey, I once had my mom come up to me and ask if I had an Doctor Who for one of the ladies she worked with, so...at least you're pimping yourself out?
