2048. Forever.

So the other night I had a FaceTime date with verity, and after a while verity mentioned 2048: Teen Wolf DILF Edition, and the date rapidly devolved into the two of us parallel-playing like amiable toddlers, making various frustrated noises at the game together. An hour or two later I checked to see if the internet had produced a Tyler Hoechlin edition since I last looked, and then there were a lot more broken noises of helpless delight, but also just the two of us hanging out on our respective couches playing 2048.

I have a 2048 problem, is what I am saying. And I enjoy sharing it!

2048s I Have Loved

Teen Wolf DILF Edition by eeames. Includes a lot of weird image choices--I personally do not rate either Ennis or Deucalion as a DILF even if you spot them the Dad part. I'm a little afraid to find out who 1024 and 2048 are, given that trend. But it does have the numbers on the images, so you can keep track of where you are in the game.

Tyler Hoechlin Edition by @JessicaThomas. I would like to thank the person who made this game, and also Tyler Hoechlin, for helping me to understand what it means to feel personally victimized by someone's attractiveness. @__________@ Also verity observes that the images are all in the same color family, if that is a thing you are able to notice instead of just being variously dazzled by changing iterations of Tyler Hoechlin. I think it has a mix of stills and gifs, but my brain melted. It's all gifs! I checked. For science.

Dylan O'Brien Edition #5 by Minnie. My favorite of the, uh, nine Dylan O'Brien Editions I tried, it's all gifs and includes Stiles winking encouragingly from the 32 square and the Terrifying Smile on 128.

Dylan O'Brien Edition #8 by derektheimmovabl. Alternates gifs and stills, but has a good gradient of attractiveness--the starting 2 square is a greyscale gif of bb!youtube!Dylan and he improves (and ages up) from there.

Stargate SG-1 Edition by leisurelybro. First of all it's an SG-1 Edition!!!!! And secondly this is the most perfectly structured of any 2048 I've played yet--it starts with baddies, so that you intuitively want to get rid of low numbers, and then at the 32 square changes over to alien ally Thor, and then 64 is General Hammond, and 128-256-512-1024 are Daniel-Teal'c-Sam-Jack. I haven't won this but I'm guessing 2048 is either the whole team together or the Gate itself or both, the perfect crown to the progression.

15th Century Portraits of Women Edition by @edralis. For when you need some detox from all the gif-animated dudes in all the other 2048s you've been playing. Gives me a totally false sense of how well I'm doing because I don't know the images well enough to put them into a hierarchy; only just now when I tried to make a key did I realize that I've been feeling really triumphant every time I put two Blonde Ringlets together, and she's... the 16 square. I don't think I've gotten past 256 in this one, possibly for that reason. I really wish I knew how to grab the images from these, because I'd love to do a reverse image search and find out who all of these portraits are.

Oh no! Not more. So far I've done Classic 2048, Doge 2048 and Doctor Who 2048.

Doge 2048! How could I forget Doge 2048. Is the Doctor Who one a progression of Doctors? Because that would be awesome.

Also I tried playing 900719925474099200 but due to the proportions of my laptop screen I can't get the whole grid in view at once. So that made it a bit extra zen and mysterious. :D

Yeah, that makes sense--if you count out the doubling numbers from 2 to 2048, there are eleven. So, eleven Doctors! :D

The only 2048 I've seen so far is copperbadge's Chris Evans offering, which I gotta admit I lost an afternoon to. But now I have other options, so thanks for robbing me of more time! ;)

I love all the variations on 2048, although the one I play the most of is one you probably wouldn't care about, it being Hungarian musical theatre actors.

I really wanted to like 15th century portraits of woman edition, but I find that the various images for that one are not all chosen for high contrast and so it is easy to get the some of pictures confused with each other - I have a lot of trouble with the 2 and the 16 because they look so similar to me at a glance. :(

Awww, yes, that one is just "oh look faces of random people I don't know!" for me.

I have the same problem with the TW Kink Icons one, which I ADORE fannishly but in terms of playing the game, the color backgrounds get too similar and I get lost in a sea of red at some point. Alas!

Until now I've stayed away from the non-number versions of 2048, mostly because I felt like a picture version would be waaaay more difficult (though also because I need more 2048 like I need a *hole in the head*) but then you linked to AN SG-1 VERSION OH MY GOD. I love it. And the 2048 tile is neither the Gate nor the team, but it IS awesome.

My strategy: keep the highest tile always in the lower left-hand corner, with the next highest immediately to the right, and so on along the bottom row. Pretend the "up" arrow doesn't exist unless it absolutely must be used. Keep an eye on the bottom row so you're always shifting it to the left when it's able to move. I find that as long as I can avoid accidentally moving everything to the right and having a 2 appear in my corner (still somewhat difficult!) it's a pretty solid path to VICTORY.

Thanks for the SG1 link - with Frostfire's cunning plan I might even get above level 8, dammit. A few extra versions at my site here and the post before it has 2 SGA ones - but simple versions, not clever like the SG1 one which is really well-constructed. Still, I like moving from version to version for the variety.

I have now fallen down the rabbit hole of trying to identify the very best Game of Thrones edition. The first one I found was #88. Working downward from there I have gotten as far as #84. @__@

The final square of the SG-1 version is neither the team nor the gate, but is I suppose closest to the gate. I know this because my boyfriend watched over my shoulder for a while and then proceeded to steal the keyboard and win. repeatedly. haven't finished it yt myself though, but thank you for the link, I have been having a lot of fun trying.

I am curious: how did you find all these different versions? Did you search for them, or is there a list somewhere?

Just googling. If you think of someone or something there should be a 2048 for and google it, an usvsthem link will probably come up--and if it's, like, game-of-thrones-edition-88 you know that you can try all the lower numbers and get other versions, too.

You can tell what will match by the colors. Beige >> peach/red >> yellow >> several indistinguishable glowy yellows. But, um, no - I understand.
