CA:TWS Fic: Dinner for Two

In the parlance of the HYDRA Trash Party, "dinner for two" signifies any attempt to make rape or a non-consensual situation romantic or indeed forgivable. It is a term of harsh condemnation in the dumpster; it is in fact the one reliable way to earn condemnation in the dumpster. (One of the few rules of the meme is: thou shalt not judge the trashiness of thy neighbor's kinks unless thy neighbor is trying to pass off their rotting banana peels and half-eaten pizza crusts as a healthy romantic dinner for two.)

So obviously when I found myself writing fic where Steve has loving and well-intentioned sex with Bucky while aware that Bucky is unable to consent--and while they are, indeed, eating dinner--I could not resist this title. (It's not really as bad as that makes it sound, I swear. Steve is making an educated, and correct, guess about how Bucky would want him to handle a situation neither of them controls. But I still couldn't resist the title.)

Bucky called it going into a pattern, not programming, because his actions weren't predetermined; he just had a limited range of responses to whatever was happening around him.

Ooh, is this perhaps Res-safe? I gather the first of the series is not, but this sounds like it could be my kind of thing.

I think it might be, yeah! This one is all taking place while Bucky is with Steve (and, in a larger sense, with the Avengers), in recovery from his HYDRA traumas, and while the incident that plays out makes it really clear what Pierce was doing to him in the first story, this story is about Steve helping him reclaim that territory and make it something good.
