Ray and Fraser, of course, were on the verge of getting into a screaming fight about the kid--Fraser arguing that teaching David gun safety is his responsibility, Ray arguing that they're his guns and if the kid shoots himself in the face with one, that's Ray's responsibility.

Shortly hereafter, the kid was going to hit the end of the honeymoon phase like a brick wall and start freaking out and having tantrums and misbehaving--at first only in front of Ray, because he didn't think he had to impress Ray, but eventually with Ben too, which would be kind of the turning of a corner.

Meanwhile, they all move to a house and continue to live together, and everyone thinks Ray and Fraser are gay. Ray and Fraser get a little worried about that--Fraser because at some point that child-welfare check is going to happen, the NWT is the only jurisdiction in Canada that doesn't legally prevent discrimination based on sexual orientation, and he could lose David for being madly in love with Ray, who seems oblivious in any case. Ray gets worried because he realizes he'd kind of like to be gay with Fraser raising this kid, and he spends some time doing the random skeevy hookup thing trying to work out whether that's even possible (survey says: yes).

Also, they figure out what really happened to David's mom, which of course turns out not to have been an accident, and Ray is in peril, and then they kiss.

And then there's this little interlude where Ben has to go to Canada for a few days, and Ray keeps David, and David almost gets Ray arrested in the airport (has a tantrum over Ben leaving and starts doing the 'you're not my father!' thing to Ray, which is even less funny in public) but after that is pretty meek. Fraser's supposed to be getting back after David's bedtime, but Ray takes David to the airport to meet him, because neither of them can sleep for waiting for him, and so he's standing there with the kid asleep on his hip when Fraser walks out, and Fraser wraps his arms around them both, package deal, and is home.

And then, because this was going to be a seriously old skool slash story, then they have sex.
