1) From BLDGBLOG, a post entitled "Nakatomi Space", which starts by describing Die Hard as "one of the best architectural films of the past 25 years" and just keeps getting more fascinating and awesome from there, including diagnosing in architectural terms just where the Die Hard sequels went wrong. Man, now I really want to see the architecturally appropriate versions....

2) I just finished reading Mary Gentle's Ash: A Secret History (in its undivided 1100-page glory-or-something), and ... has anyone else read this? Could someone please come help me figure out what I think of it in the comments? I'm pretty sure I liked the ending, I think I just wish it had gotten there about four hundred pages faster.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lamardeuse and [livejournal.com profile] missmollyetc for beta, and for not finding my Die Hard story about baseball patently ridiculous.

McClane/Farrell. NC-17. 13,288 words.
"Nothing like the upper deck at Shea in July," McClane said, in a hearty, two-working-legs, not-even-wearing-a-sling-anymore kind of voice that made Matt want to punch him a little bit.

So in between episodes of Merlin I am putting off working on Die Hard fic by writing Torchwood fic, and putting off writing Torchwood fic by doing, um, this (and this, and this and this) in comments. In case anyone did actually want some Die Hard McClane/Farrell kidfic arranged in sort of random order. It's, um, avant-garde.

([livejournal.com profile] renenet, I think sheerly for the sake of delicious-ing, may or may not have dubbed this "Something to Hope On," but rest assured that if I ever put it in chronological order and one tense and really write it, it will almost certainly have a new and much stupider title. *g*)

And on her eighth day in a new fandom, Dira looked around and saw that it was good, and then started plotting kidfic.

Well, now I only have one more Die Hard fic in progress...

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] iuliamentis and [livejournal.com profile] lamardeuse for encouraging and audiencing! This is what happens when I watch Die Hard while already in a state of uncontrollable love for John McClane. JOHN MCCLANE, BE MY VALENTINE. OR BE MATT'S, AT LEAST.

McClane/Farrell. PG. 1,527 words.
There's a huge scar down the sole of John's left foot.

MP3 copy of the Guyz Nite Die Hard song (now with new 4th verse): on sendspace for your listening pleasure.

In tangentially-related news, I now have two Die Hard stories in progress on top of the one I've already posted, which adds up to three. If I write four stories in a fandom it gets its own page on my website. This always causes me a ridiculous amount of anxiety; at the moment I am determined not to write any more Die Hard after these two stories so it stays a Miscellaneous fandom, but then what about Yuletide? What happens when I get around to rewatching the second and third movies? /o\

For anyone who is thinking, about now, that librarianship is exactly where I belong: yes. Yes it is.

dira: Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (F/K FUCK by Heuradys)
I just remembered that I was, sort of, by proxy and implication, in a way, slashing John McClane (with Al, naturally) before slashing John McClane was cool. See, a couple of years ago I posted this during WIP Amnesty - it would have been a multi-crossover action-adventure farce, Fraser/RayK of course, and for reasons that do not need exploring at this juncture, it was going to behoove Fraser to be carrying a gun. Fraser didn't want to and Ray had to persuade him, and this is how I had Ray pitch it. )

So, uh. Yes. There we have it. I have always been headed toward writing Die Hard slash. \o?

Never mind Bruce Willis, I just realized that I have been reading and writing slash about BRANDON FROM GALAXY QUEST. OH GOD.
dira: Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (McClane & Farrell - Hard eyes)
I'm sure all of you who are interested have seen it a million times, but since I just found it and need to be able to find it again: Live Free or Die Hard Gag Reel. BEST THING EVER, HOMG.

This is one of those moments when I'm really, really glad #2 Brother doesn't have a LiveJournal and doesn't read mine. (Unless he secretly does, in which case I AM REALLY REALLY SORRY AND YOU SHOULD PROBABLY STOP READING NOW, I REALLY DID NOT MEAN TO SLASH YOUR FAVORITE ACTION HERO FROM YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE MOVIES. REALLY. VERY SORRY.)

Ahem. Oh look, Dira wrote Die Hard slash, you are all dying of shock. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] emilyray for being wonderfully if inexplicably enthusiastic about this given she has never seen any of the movies, [livejournal.com profile] iuliamentis for being game as always, and [livejournal.com profile] lamardeuse and [livejournal.com profile] missmollyetc for actual beta.

Live Free or Die Hard. McClane/Farrell. PG-13. 1,405 words.
It's Holly's birthday.

So on Sunday, after [livejournal.com profile] norah posted her second set of fic recs for it, I finally finally watched Die Hard 4 or Live Free or Die Hard or, as I like to think of it, "Hi, I'm a Mac." "And I will fucking kill you if you try to hurt him."

So, um, yeah, in the last twenty-four hours I have read A LOT of McClane/Farrell fic. <3333333333333333333
