Well. This is a promising start...

The first thing my coworker said to me this morning?

"I'm out at circulation, and you're in the sorting room."

See, somebody has to be in the sorting room whenever the library is open, because it's adjacent to an exit from the library, with an alarm that goes off is someone tries to take a book through without checking it out. But I'm the only one here, with nothing but a computer to keep me busy.

"It's real boring," she said. "There's a limit to how much web-surfing you can do."

I swear to God, I thought, What, the computer shuts down? There are filters?

And then I realized, she just has no idea. It's like when I was a kid, when I read that Dave Barry column that explained the concept of the World Wide Web and Coffee Cam, and I asked my Dad, who used the internet at work, and he said, "It's pretty boring, just a lot of pages of words."

::uncontrollable laughter::

On the bright side, this mean she *seriously* has no idea what I'm doing at my desk when it takes me half an hour to get through six staple-binding items, which is... nice.

Today might just be a good day.
