Things to get excited about:

Blondo is on a UPS truck driving around in the immediate vicinity of where I live, right now! (Kind of pointlessly, since neither I nor the roomies are home to sign for him, but still! 7:30 tonight at the distro center, I get to pick up my puter!)

Calgary beat out the Canucks in OT! This is the first time the Flames have won a playoff series since they won the Cup in 1989! Flame on! (I get to cheer for them for about another twenty-four hours, and then they officially become The Enemy for round two, but for now... Flame On!)

I was also rooting for the Bruins last night (Wicked Intense!) but they got beaten out by the Habs, and, ah, well. Montreal's Original Six, and Canadian, so. Props to them, and (with apologies to [livejournal.com profile] askye) I hope to god that beating out #2 means they're ready to beat out #1 as well. Allez Habs!

Also - somewhat disturbingly, judging by the look on [livejournal.com profile] iuliamentis's face - I appear to have instantaneously memorized all the words of a Molson Canadian commercial that was airing on the CBC, the very first time I saw it. (Why don't I drink American beer? Why don't I buy a Moroccan snomobile? Why don't I eat a Japanese hot dog? Why don't I wear Italian hip-waders? Or Jamaican snowshoes? Why don't I drink American beer? Because I. Am. Canadian!) But, dude, that is quite possibly more national pride than I personally have felt in years, if not ever, packed into a thirty-second beer commercial.

Iulia and I were speculating about why overt displays of American nationalism strike me as creepy, while Canadian nationalism makes me all happy and wistful for a country of my own that I could be so proud of. Iulia thinks it's because American nationalism = war, while Canadian nationalism = have another cold one. I think she's probably on to something there.

[livejournal.com profile] helaaspindakaas wanted to stop at the apartment complex office on the way home, because he'd been tracking a package and knew it had been delivered. When we pulled up, there was the UPS truck - the UPS truck with Blondo on it! I hopped out along with the boy, and we followed the UPS guy inside. When we mentioned our apartment number, the UPS guy said he had another package - a Dell computer - for that address, but he couldn't leave it. I raised my hand. "That's mine."

He went outside to get it, and I followed him out and signed on the little pad (I have to say, I was a little disturbed that he didn't make any attempt to check my assertion that it was my computer, but then maybe I have an honest face? And it is my computer...) and he put a box in my hands, and!

Stanley Raymond Daniel Alec Illya Spike Hutchinson is home and up and running, two hours ahead of schedule! w0000000000000t!

Even now I am downloading my 1,500 or so mp3s from Mark Pierre's hard drive (via [livejournal.com profile] iuliamentis's computer, Frenchiepants, since Blondo already had the first crash of his young life while I was trying, fruitlessly, to get him to acknowledge the external combo drive, whose instructions were obviously written by people who'd never actually seen the device) and the text files - including, yes, my safe and sound copy of the hockey!AU - are already installed.

Now, background, background, who's got the background...
