no news is a suck.

Today is Thursday. After last week's rather promising developments, the NHL and NHLPA were supposed to resume talks on Monday. There have been no news reports--not on cbc.ca, not on espn.com--about what the hell's happened this week. Not even the standard article about how nothing in particular happened. I'm going back and forth between thinking this means a deal is going through any second, thinking this means talks have ground to a total halt, and thinking this a MASSIVE PLOT TO DRIVE ME INSANE.

espn.com takes the cake for maddening filler content, though, with this column about what jolly fun it would be to expose all NHL players to a re-launch draft, thus scrambling every team. If I thought there was a chance in hell of anything like this happening, I would be under my desk crying right now.

Shut up, I know it's June and in the normal course of things I wouldn't get any hockey news anyway. THIS IS NOT THE NORMAL COURSE OF THINGS.

ETA: thanks to the lovely wonderful deepsix, have now read this TSN article, which includes possible the happiest sentence I've read since last summer regarding the collective bargaining agreement: Lawyers are drafting the agreement as talks continue daily in Toronto this week.
