When we went to bed last night, [livejournal.com profile] iuliamentis and I could not get our computers to connect to the internet via our little home network dojiggy. It was very weird - both our computers, when we clicked on local area connections, would show a status of 'connected' and little reassuring changing numbers of packets and bytes and so on, but we couldn't connect, either to the internet or to one another's computers. The home networking wizard repair thing couldn't assign our computers new IP addresses and told us to call our ISP; Ameritech told us to call our hub's manufacturer's tech support, which was the point where we concluded that yesterday's storm - which, judging by the state of the clocks when we got home, included a power outage - had done some relatively subtle damage to the hub and we were going to have to buy a new one. And since there was another storm rolling in, we shut down all the computers and sat down to watch Miracle, about which more in a second.

But this morning, I got up, booted up the main computer with the modem attached to it, started up Blondo, and, wonder of wonders, I'm online. At 8:30 on a Saturday, which is maybe not such a cool miracle, but, online! Yay!

Anyway. Back to that movie.

It's a Movie About Hockey, Okay? )

So, in short, go watch Miracle and feel the love.

Just watched "The Do-It-Yourself-Dreadful Affair" and "The Super Colossal Affair," and, whoa. This was my first exposure to season three MFU (now with even wackier music!) and, um, I can see what people mean about that whole "screwball comedy" thing.

I suppose it's successful as screwball comedy - I haven't laughed at anything as hard as I did at that "Call me Nappy" line in a while - but, oy. It'd be funnier if you didn't still get the impression that the show was trying to be a spy show, or a drama, or anything. It's sort of the sad kind of funny at this point.

Um, sad or not, though, really funny. I mean, come on, in Dreadful they escaped on a revolving bed - and when Napoleon jumped on, it was directly onto Illya, even though there was plenty of empty space left for him. And then in Super Colossal, he once again jumps onto Illya on a bed. Hmmm....

Also, the jealous-boyfriend looks seem to have been turned up to eleven - and in Super Colossal it's Napoleon's turn to be jealous, since pool boy Illya is (duh) too much for the innocent to resist.

Also, um, pool boy Illya.

Yeah.

Still, I kind of miss season one...
