Help me, locals!
Oct. 23rd, 2005 10:33 amSo my darling Brother #2 (youngerolderbro) and his girlfriend the marathon runner are flying in to visit me, and also so that she can run in the Marine Corps marathon next weekend, and they want me to pick them up from the airport. Namely Reagan/National. On Friday. At 8:30 in the morning. And apparently I love them enough to give it a try.
But, have I mentioned that I haven't actually driven inside the District yet? And am kind of scared to do so the first time to an airport at rush hour? Yeah. So my question is: should I be this scared? Should I be MORE scared? How early would I have to get up to accomplish this, exactly? Would taking the Metro down to the airport to meet them just turn out EVEN SCARIER?
Also, once they've been retrieved from the airport, they have several hours to kill before they can check into their hotel, which is in Arlington. I'm happy to wander the Smithsonians or etc. with them if it's what they want to do and/or to fulfill their basic visiting-DC tourist requirements, but neither of them are hugely museum-oriented people. Any other recommendations on keeping my family's jocks entertained and fed for several hours?
