Two things I'm pleased about

1) I posted a story for the In the Car challenge at bones_flashfic (open until Thursday!): Front Seat is PG-ish Booth/Brennan.


2) Hockeeeeeeeeeeeeey! Weekend playoff games are being broadcast nationally on NBC, so I got to watch Game 2 between the Wings and Flames yesterday. The Wings won 3-1, taking them up 2-0 in the series, and... well, it's been a while since they were up two games in a series.

My favorite moment from the game--apart from the goals and the part where WE WON and the part where Brett Hull was doing commentary between periods and talking about the "tumultuous" two years during which a younger hockey player lived with him rent-free, wink, nudge--uh, anyway! My favorite part of the game was this moment when the team captains, Jarome Iginla of the Flames and Nick Lidstrom of the Red Wings, happened to be battling each other in the Red Wings' crease.

Iginla is a goalie-pestering forward, Lidstrom a stay-at-home defenseman, so they were crowded up against each other and the Red Wings' goalie, Dominik Hasek. At some point Iginla bumped Hasek and started to lose his balance--Hasek was already falling backward and Iginla was about to fall on top of him. The game had already included a several scuffles resulting from collisions with the goalies.

Nick Lidstrom, ever the peacemaker, interposed his stick across Iginla's back and gently tipped him in the opposite direction, so he'd fall clear of Hasek.


My least favorite moment (though it ended in a goal, which was lovely) was a particular Detroit power play during which our goalie-pesterer, Tomas Holmstrom, had planted himself in his usual position with his ass in Mikka Kiprusoff's face. Unfortunately, he'd lost his helmet almost as soon as the power play began.

Now the major role of a goalie-pesterer? Is for his teammates to take shots more or less straight at him so that they will either deflect off him into the net or slip by both him and the goalie because the goalie can't see around him. At least three pucks bounced off Holmstrom (happily, not off his bare head) before one went in, but Lord--I spent that whole power play just hoping everybody made it out alive.

Which is to say: hockeeeeeeeeeeeey! \o/

Maybe I was possessed. Yes. By a limerick demon. An emo limerick demon.
